Synano NanoAdditive™ GTL is an alumina nanoparticle concentrate engineered specifically for Gas-to-Liquid dielectric base oils used in single-phase immersion cooling. Added directly to GTL fluid already in service, it increases thermal conductivity by up to 7.5%, reduces kinematic viscosity by 10 to 20%, and raises breakdown voltage by up to 120% versus untreated mineral oil. No fluid replacement, no system modification, no operational interruption. Developed by Synano’s thermal engineering team, building on research at Delft University of Technology.
GTL oils are a preferred base fluid for immersion cooling due to their low viscosity, high flash point, and clean paraffinic composition. As rack power density increases, their thermal ceiling becomes the constraint. Synano NanoAdditive™ GTL raises it. Alumina nanoparticle enhancement delivers up to 7.5% improvement in thermal conductivity and up to 15% improvement in natural convection confirmed by Figure of Merit analysis, translating directly into higher supportable power density at the same operating temperature and flow rate.
Validated at two nanoparticle concentration levels. High concentration delivers maximum thermal and dielectric performance. Low concentration prioritises viscosity profile and system compatibility, with dielectric dissipation factor remaining close to base fluid levels. Tested in partner deployments across Europe and the United States. Non-toxic, non-flammable, and compatible with standard immersion infrastructure from first use.
Up to 7.5% improvement in thermal conductivity versus untreated GTL base at 40°C, confirmed to ASTM D7896. Higher thermal conductivity raises the heat transfer coefficient directly, allowing systems to carry greater thermal load at the same flow rate and operating temperature. FOM analysis confirms up to 15% improvement in natural convection and up to 6% improvement in forced convection versus mineral oil base.
Breakdown voltage reaches 66 kV at high nanoparticle concentration and 57 kV at low concentration, confirmed to IEC 60156. Safe for direct submersion of live electronics including servers, GPUs, power modules, and switching equipment under standard operating conditions.
Kinematic viscosity reduces by 10 to 20% depending on nanoparticle loading, confirmed to ASTM D445. Lower viscosity improves natural convection flow through immersion tanks and reduces circulation pump overhead. GTL base fluid already offers low viscosity. Synano NanoAdditive™ GTL reduces it further, improving flow characteristics without compromising dielectric performance.
Homogeneous alumina dispersion validated by Tyndall effect laser testing. No phase separation or sedimentation observed in static monitoring. Thermal properties measured after three months were consistent with initial results. Stable across the full operating temperature range. Suspension stability expected to improve further under continuous flow conditions.
Compatible with standard single-phase immersion tank designs, common seals and O-rings including EPDM and Viton, and existing circulation hardware. Material compatibility validated across copper, aluminum, brass, stainless steel, and standard elastomers. No system redesign required.
Non-toxic, non-carcinogenic, non-bioaccumulative. Safer to handle than conventional mineral oil alternatives. Synano operates a spent-fluid take-back program for nanoparticle recovery and responsible processing.
All values measured at 40°C to stated standards. Two concentration levels available. High concentration delivers maximum thermal and dielectric performance. Low concentration is recommended where dielectric dissipation factor is a system constraint.

Flash point is reduced versus untreated GTL base oil due to the additive carrier liquid. Recommended operating range is 20°C to 80°C. For systems operating above 80°C, contact Synano. High concentration dielectric dissipation factor is elevated. Low concentration is recommended where this is a system constraint.

Synano NanoAdditive™ GTL is designed for single-phase immersion cooling environments where rack power density, charge cycle intensity, or continuous electrical load have pushed conventional GTL dielectric oils to their thermal limit.
Direct upgrade for GTL immersion tanks running AI servers, GPU clusters, and high-density compute hardware for up to 7.5% more heat removed at the same flow rate, tank, and pump.
For battery cells and modules where charge and discharge cycles generate concentrated heat. Dielectric strength of 57 to 66 kV eliminates short-circuit risk at the cell surface.
Drop-in upgrade for GTL transformer oil systems where hotspot temperatures are the limiting factor, with up to 7.5% improvement in heat transfer and over 100% increase in electricity insulating properties.
Synano NanoAdditive™ GTL is supplied as a concentrated dispersion for blending into GTL base oil at the required loading with two concentration levels (low and high) available.
Ensure the immersion system is clean before introducing the treated fluid. Flush to remove residual chemicals, metallic ions, and prior fluid deposits. Drain fully before filling.
Blend into GTL base fluid at the specified loading ratio prior to filling. Do not introduce the concentrate directly into a running system without pre-blending. After commissioning, occasional top-up for evaporation losses is the only expected maintenance. For systems routinely above 80°C or requiring custom loadings, contact Synano.
Non-toxic and safe to handle under standard industrial conditions. Wear nitrile gloves during handling. In case of spills, wipe clean with acetone or absorbent material. Flush any skin or eye contact with water.
Store sealed in a cool, dry, ventilated area between 5°C and 40°C. Shelf life exceeds five years in sealed containers.
Full handling and disposal guidance available on request. EU REACH compliant.
Full thermophysical data at both concentration levels. FOM analysis, stability test results, material compatibility data, concentration selection guide, and packaging options.
Available in 1 L bottles, 5 L jerry cans, and 20 L drums for evaluation and pilot quantities.
Custom nanoparticle loadings available on request. Contact technical sales to scope a project.
