Synano NanoOil™ is a nano-enhanced dielectric heat transfer oil developed for single-phase immersion cooling of high-density electronics. Enhanced with aluminum oxide (Al₂O₃) nanoparticles, it is designed for direct submersion of servers, GPUs, AI accelerators, and power electronics in data center and edge computing environments. Developed by Synano’s thermal engineering team, building on research at Delft University of Technology, using aluminum oxide selected for its chemical stability, dielectric compatibility, and superior thermal properties relative to alternative nanomaterials.
Conventional dielectric oils reach their thermal limits as rack densities increase. Synano NanoOil™ addresses this directly. Alumina nanoparticle enhancement delivers up to 15% improvement in heat transfer performance across the 20°C to 80°C operating range, without increasing viscosity beyond pump compatibility limits and without compromising electrical insulation. Dielectric strength exceeds 60 kV.
Synano NanoOil™ is currently in development with prototypes available for early-access testing. Data center operators and OEMs can engage now for joint evaluation, performance validation in their systems, and priority supply on commercial release. Non-toxic, non-flammable, and designed for minimal maintenance from first fill.
Up to 15% improvement in heat transfer performance versus conventional dielectric oils across the 20°C to 80°C operating range. Higher thermal load handled at the same flow rate. Directly relevant to high-density GPU and AI server deployments where conventional oils are approaching their thermal ceiling.
Dielectric strength exceeds 60 kV. Safe for direct submersion of live electronics including servers, GPUs, power modules, and switching equipment. No risk of electrical short under normal operating conditions.
Formulated for low viscosity across the full operating range. Flows easily through standard immersion tank circulation systems without requiring modified or oversized pumps. Compatible with existing single-phase immersion infrastructure.
Homogeneous alumina dispersion maintained across the operating temperature range. Survives thermal cycling without permanent settling. Designed for long fluid life with minimal maintenance requirements between fills.
Compatible with standard single-phase immersion tank designs, common seals and O-rings including EPDM and Viton, and existing circulation hardware. No system redesign required.
Non-toxic, non-flammable, non-carcinogenic, non-bioaccumulative. Safer to handle than mineral oil alternatives. Synano operates a spent-fluid take-back program for nanoparticle recovery and responsible processing.
Full thermophysical data will be published on commercial release. Properties below are confirmed from prototype testing. Detailed performance data is available to early-access partners under NDA.
Synano NanoOil™ is designed for single-phase immersion cooling environments where conventional dielectric oils have reached their thermal limit.
For direct submersion of AI servers, GPU clusters, and high-density compute, with up to 15% more heat removed at the same flow rate, tank, and pump.
For battery cells/modules where charge and discharge cycles concentrate heat, with dielectric strength above 60 kV, obliterating short-circuit risk at the cell surface.
Drop-in replacement for conventional transformer oil where hotspot temperatures are the limiting factor, with up to 15% improvement in heat transfer and electrical insulation strength at the same tank.
Synano NanoOil™ is supplied ready to use. No dilution or mixing required.
Ensure components are clean and dry before submersion. Fill the immersion tank at the required volume. Synano NanoOil™ is compatible with standard single-phase immersion tank designs and common seals including EPDM and Viton.
After commissioning, minimal maintenance is required. Occasional top-up for evaporation losses is the only expected intervention under normal operating conditions.
For systems operating above 80°C or requiring custom nanoparticle loadings, contact Synano to discuss development options.
Non-toxic and safe to handle under standard industrial conditions. Wear nitrile gloves during handling. Flush any skin or eye contact with water. Store sealed in a cool, dry, ventilated area between 5°C and 40°C.
Full handling and disposal guidance available on request. EU REACH compliant.
